Cosmogonic VR
Stanisław Lem-inspired animation at the 2021 Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes
Cosmogonic, first-ever VR film inspired by Stanisław Lem, is one of few Polish elements during this year’s Cannes festival. The production is represented by Marta Szarzyńska from the Kinhouse Studio.
The animation is an adaptation of the short science-fiction tale “Uranowe Uszy” (“Uranium Earpieces”) from Lem’s 1965 collection Bajki Robotów (Fables for Robots).
Using VR headsets, audiences will “enter” the mind of the title character, Cosmogonic – an old, broken robot-engineer who leads us on a journey to a faraway planet, where a brave society endeavors to use science and technology to overcome tyrannical rule.
The film is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute and Poland’s Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport. It is co-produced by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the National Centre for Culture, Aura Films. The animation and development arises with partnership with Locomotive studio.
